Oshawa-born forward Ethyn Davies checked in with durhamroadrunners.ca this summer, ahead of his rookie season in junior hockey with his hometown team.

Carlos Verde (DurhamRoadrunners.ca/CV): Ethyn, why did you choose to sign with the Roadrunners?

Ethyn Davies (ED): I chose the Roadrunners because of the location and opportunity. Being so close to home, so close to school, still living in Oshawa and not having to leave town is a big advantage for me. It worked out really well, I couldn't be happier to be joining the team.

CV: You'll be playing under new Durham bench boss Joe Cathcart, who obviously brings a wealth of experience at both the junior and college level.

ED: Yeah, being able to play for someone like Coach Joe — who's been at the college level in the ACAC — is an honour. Learning from him, how he sees the game and understanding how he wants us to play will be a terrific opportunity.

He's the kind of coach guys are excited to play for, and I can't wait to work my heart out. It's going to be a great season in Durham

.

CV: What are your own personal goals for your first season in the junior ranks?

ED: I want to develop and learn what the game is like at a junior level. If I score a couple goals, chip in some assists, then huge plus — but I really just want to help the team win as much as possible. That's all that matters.
